Tennessee Season Ends Again In Elite Eight
For the third season in a row, the Tennessee Vols make it to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament, and for the third straight year, that is where the season ends. Tennessee got off to an early lead, being up 16-14 nearly midway through the first half. That is the last time the Vols would have the lead. A scoring drought came as Michigan began to hit their stride and the Wolverines would go on a 21-0 run and go into the half up 48-26.
Tennessee never challenged in the second half as the Wolverines got up to a 30 point lead with 4 minutes to play and the clock hit triple zeroes with Michigan leading by 33…95-62. Star freshman Nate Ament, who was never really the same after a leg injury in the SEC Tournament, scored just four and spent the second half in the bench. Greeneville’s Ja’Kobi Gillespie was the star once again for Tennessee, he spent his last game as a Vol scoring 21.
Michigan will play Arizona next weekend for the chance to play for a National Champsionship.
Tennessee ends the season at 25-12. Among those joining Gillespie playing their last game as a Vol was big man Felix Okpara.
