Gas Prices In TN Tops $4 A Gallon
For the first time in four years, gas prices in Tennessee are averaging $4 a gallon. The AAA says the average gas price in Tennessee as of Tuesday morning (5/5) sits at $4.12. In Cocke County, the average price is $4.09. All other counties in the area have gas prices above $4, with the cheapest being in Hamblen County at $4. Cocke County has the highest average price in the area, with Jefferson County not far behind at $4.07.
The cheapest price in Tennesssee is in Rhea County at $3.92.
The national average for gas is $4.48. In the surrpounding states, North Carolina is the same as Tennessee at $4.12, Virginia is at $4.20 and Kentucky is $4.28. Of all the states bordering Tennessee, Georgia has the cheapest prices at $3.91. Oklahoma has the cheapest prices in the nation at $3.89.
While gas prices are extremely high here, just be glad you do not live in California. The average price in California is $6.13 There are 5 other states, all out west, that are at over $5 a gallon for gas. Those states are Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Alaska ansd Hawaii. Mono County California has the highest gas prices in the nation at $7.01.
