House Fire Leaves Woman Dead
A woman is dead after a house fire Friday morning in Hamblen County. Fire crews responded to the fire in the 5700 block of Old Russellville Pike in East Hamblen County around 7 am. Firefighters went inside the home to rescue the woman inside along with her two dogs. According to the East Hamblen County Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters encountered structural and roof collapses while attempting the rescue. Crews were able to get the woman and the dogs out, but the woman did not survive. The Hamblen County Sheriff’s office is currently investigating the cause of that blaze. The East Hamblen County Volunteer Fire Department says this is the first fatal fire in their district in 13 years.
