Man Trying To Steal Boots Wanted From Out Of State
A man who was a fugitive from justice was arrested in Newport this week after he tried to shoplift a pair of boots from Wal-Mart. Newport police responded to Wal-Mart on Tuesday after loss prevention at the store spotted 45 year old Eddie William Everhart putting on a pair of boots in the store, walking past all points of sale and trying to wear the boots out the door. Everhart also tried to take two walkie-talkies. The total value of the items was nearly $110.
During their investigation, police found that a William Ray Everhart was wanted for Felony Violation of Probation for Robbery in Montana. The names may have been slightly different, but a picture of the Everhart wanted in Montana matched the Everhart in Newport. He was taken into custody and charged with being a fugitive from justice. He is awaiting extradition back to Montana.
