ETSU Bringing Local Coaching Hero Home
East Tennessee State has a new head football coach and is not former Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher. Instead the Buccanneers opted for a local coaching legend. George Quarles will be returning to the area of past triumphs. Quarles coached Maryville’s football team for 18 seasons compiling a record of 250–16 and bringing the Rebels 11 state titles. He was the winningest high school coach in America for 10 years. He left following the 2016 season to coach Furman University…that is where ETSU hired him from when they made the announcement late last night. George Quarles is originally from Jefferson County.
