Jefferson Co. 2 Year Old Dies From Gunshot Wound

Last Wednesday, March 23rd, Jefferson County police were called to a home in Talbott where a 2 year old child shot himself in the face while playing with a loaded handgun. That child has been in critical condition at UT Medical Center after undergoing surgery. We are sad to report, that 2 year old boy has now died. The child had spent several days at UT Medical Center before being moved to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital earlier this week. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to that child’s death. There have been no charges filed against anyone at this point.
