Busy Day In Cocke County This Saturday

It’s going to be a busy day this Saturday around Newport and Cocke County. The 2nd annual Cocke County Bluegrass Festival is happening out at the Cocke County Fairgrounds with the headliner this year being IBMA multi award winning group Russell Moore and IIrd Tyme Out. If you are not familiar with bluegrass music, that is a huge act in the bluegrass field. There will also be several local bluegrass bands performing. Gates open at noon Saturday, tickets are $15 online in advance and $20 at the gate.

While the bluegrass festival is going on at the fairgrounds…out at the 14th annual Cruise Against Cancer will be making a return appearance out at the Newport City park. Event organizers say the event is on rain or shine. It will run from 7am to 7pm and of course goes for a great cause with proceeds benefitting the Celebrate Life Cancer Support Group. Over the history of the Cruise Against Cancer event, there has been nearly $300,000 raised to help cancer patients right here in this area.
