Newport Police Respond To Shots Fired

Newport police were called late Wednesday night to the Newport Terrace Apartments for a call about shots fired in that area. Police found 25 year old Joshua Gibson and 23 year old Brandy Williams had both been drinking and had gone behind their apartment and shot firearms in the direction of homes in the Woodstone area. The pair were shooting at targets affixed to an old broken tv. Gibson admitted to shooting a 9mm handgun and a .22 caliber rifle. Gibson was found with several unspent cartridges in his possession. Both Gibson and Williams were arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
