Two Western NC Parents Charged With Murder Of Infant
Two parents in Buncombe County NC around Asheville are now charged with first degree murder in the death of their 2 month old daughter. Authorities say that the infant was found unresponsive in her bassinet on June 28th, and was later pronounced dead.
Originally, the father, 35 year old Nicholas Shane Stephenson was charged with second-degree murder and negligent child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. The girl’s mother, 28 year old Diandra Haleigh Fuhr-Farlow, was charged with felonious child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.
Authorities say that findings from the preliminary autopsy and after consultation with the District Attorney, those charges were upgraded against the parents to first degree murder. Back on June 28th, Fuhr-Farlowe called 911 from their home in western Buncombe County… saying she found 2 month old Riley Stephenson in her bassinet not breathing. Both parents are now being held in jail without bond.
