Newport Grammar School Student Expelled For Drug Possession
Newport police were called to Newport Grammar School on Wednesday after a member of the staff there smelled what they believe to be marijuana coming from a student’s locker in the 8th grade wing of the building. Police opened the locker with the assistance of school staff and inside they found a small pouch with a marijuana pipe, marijuana grinder, and a lighter. The locker belonged to a 14 year old boy, who was removed from class and then expelled from the school. The boy was turned over to his mother and is expected to appear in juvenile court on May16th charged with public intoxication and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
