CCSO Investigating Stabbing
The Cocke County Sheriff’s office is investigating a stabbing that allegedly took place on Hwy 160. Late Saturday night Cocke County dispatch was contacted by the Morristown Hamblen Hospital Emergency Room that they were treating an Hispanic male who claimed to have been stabbed somewhere on Hwy 160 by the Cocke County-Hamblen county line. Captain Bob Schaff of the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office traveled to Morristown and spoke with the victim, Alejandro Mendez- Luna through an ER staff translator. The victim stated that he got into a vehicle with two other Hispanic males. The victim stated he heard one of the males state that “they had orders to stab him” and at some point, he was stabbed in the left side. Mendez-Luna says the two men then dropped him off at his family`s residence. When questioned why he got in the vehicle with two strangers in the first place, he told Schaff because the men knew his name. Schaff says that Mendez-Luna was uncooperative when questioned and stated all he wanted to do was leave the ER and go home. The Morristown officers that originally responded to the stabbing told Schaff they were given several different stories from the victim including Mendez-Luna telling them he was followed by a vehicle and wound up getting stabbed. No arrests have been made in that case.
