Woman Takes Flowers…Throws Them Into Pigeon River
A woman was jailed over the weekend after throwing flowers off the Eastport Bridge. A witness told police they watched as a woman dressed all in black took flowers off the Eastport Bridge on East Hwy 25/70. She then proceeded to throw those flowers into the Pigeon River below. Police found a woman matching the witnesses description walking in front of Jabo’s Pharmacy. The woman was identified as 28 year old Nina Williams who told the office she walked across the bridge from the camp on Jimtown Road. She refused to answer questions about the flowers, but was the only person in the area matching the description of the suspect. She was taken into custody and charged with vandalism. Newport Parks and Recreation says approx. 101 flowers at a value of $4,000 made the plunge into the river.
