Confrontation Leads To Stabbing
Cocke County deputies were called around midnight Friday might in reference to a man who had been stabbed. A nurse at Newport Medical Center told sheriff’s deputies that 32 year old Jacob Henry had been stabbed near the waist and had been transported by helicopter to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville. A witness told deputies that what led to the stabbing was confrontation between Jacob Henry and a co-worker, 18 year old Coye Zipperer of Dandridge. According to witness statements, Zipperer and three other individuals showed up at Henry’s address. One of the three individuals with Zipperer stated that when the confrontation began at Henry’s residence there was trash talking back and forth. That witness stated that a gun was pointed at Zipperer who then stabbed Henry. Coye Zipperer and the three individuals then fled from the scene. A friend with Jacob Henry transported him to the Newport Medical Center. Charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon have been filed against Coye Zipperer. Jacob Henry was expected to be discharged from the UT Medical Center today.
