Woman Arrested For “Skip-Scanning”
Wal-Mart loss prevention in Newport called police late Tuesday night after they spotted a woman “skip-scanning” items. 48 year old Daphne Russell had not only skip scanned items but had also swapped tags on items before scanning, and placed items in the bottom of her shopping cart without scanning them all. Russell was identified by previous interactions and was found to be previously trespassed from all Wal-Mart properties. Police arrested her once outside the building, she has been charged with burglary and theft under $1,000. Russell was also arrested over the weekend after she shoplifted items at Walgreen’s in Newport.
