Man Thought To Be Killed Found By Family
Newport police responded early Sunday morning to a report of a man who was missing and had possibly been killed. Family members of 41 year old Richard Carnal told police he had last been seen Saturday night at Wal-Mart in Newport and they had received texts from a female named “Jaime.” The texts were derogatory in nature and claimed that Carnal had been killed, then text messages were sent of “images” of the alleged deceased. Mr. Carnal’s cell phone number was pinged and officers found the location was a property on Irish Cut Road. The location of the property was that of Carnal’s deceased father and items at the location included a hat and backpack that may have belonged to Mr. Carnal. In that area from the drive path to the place where the items were found was a possible drag path and a vandalized neighboring gravesite. Richard Carnal was not found.
Sunday evening, family members called police to the Dollar General location in the Eastern Plaza. Family members say they found Richard Carnal near the bridge on O’Neill Road. They transported him to the Dollar General and called police. Mr. Carnal told police he had been assaulted, drugged, and thrown out of a vehicle. He was transported to the Newport Medical Center. Police are investigating that case.
