Man Loses Control Of Car Hits Utility Pole
A Newport man escaped injury after he lost control of his vehicle on New Cave Church Road Monday after the storms. 42 year old Mari Rivera told police that he was driving a 2006 Toyota Camry on New Cave Church Road when he went to go around a curve and his car fish-tailed causing him to lose control. Rivera left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The storms had dumped quite a bit of rain by the time that accident happened just after 5pm, so the roadway was wet. Police say the wet road probably contributed to the wreck. Rivera was not injured in the crash, but police found he had no driver’s license or insurance. He was issued a citation for both of the offenses.
