Sean Williams Captured In Florida
A 35 day manhunt is over for federal authorities as escaped inmate Sean Williams has been taken into custody in Florida. The search had concentrated in Jackson NC after a woman said she spotted Williams at a shopping center in Sylva on Friday morning. However, a call came into the Pinellas County sheriff’s office in Largo, Florida from someone saying they had spotted Williams there on Tuesday. A K-9 then tracked down Williams in Pinellas County near Tampa at what appears to be a 7-eleven. Williams was taken into custody around 9:00 Tuesday night.
This ends a manhunt of over a month for Williams after he escaped from an inmate transport van on October 18 near downtown Greeneville. Williams was being transported to an appearance in federal court. Williams was facing federal weapons charges as well as many counts of child pornography and child rape. Williams is also suspected of raping over 50 women at an apartment in Johnson City. Sean Williams now faces even more charges related to his escape.
