Memorial Ride Planned For Fallen Deputy
In the wake of the preliminary hearing that saw the case against Kenneth Dehart be sent to the Blount County Grand Jury, volunteers are organizing an event to benefit Dehart’s victims of the shooting that occurred on February 8th…two weeks ago tonight.
This Sunday, motorcycle riders will honor both fallen Deputy Greg McCowan and injured deputy Shelby Eggers by taking part in a memorial benefit ride in their honor. Staging will begin at 10am Sunday morning at Pellissippi State Community College. The ride will begin by pulling out onto Lamar Alexander Pkwy and traveling into downtown Maryville. The ride will go past the Blount County Justice Center then turning onto Tuckaleechee Pike and travel beside Grandview Cemetery, where Deputy McCowan was laid to rest last week. The ride will then continue onto Waters Road and to the American Legion Post 13 building.
Motorcycles, three wheelers and Jeeps are all invited to ride. There will be a table set up to accept donations for both Deputy McCowan and Deputy Eggers families.
