High Speed Chase Leads To Two Arrests

A high speed chase resulted in the arrest of two individuals Saturday night. A Cocke County deputy had spotted two MW’s racing up Cosby Hwy at around 100 mph towards Newport. One BMW pulled over at Wal-Mart, but the other continued north on Cosby Hwy. That vehicle continued at speeds up to 80 mph through Newport and turned onto East Broadway. Newport police then joined in the pursuit and they were ale to box in that BMW and get it stopped. A search of the vehicle turned up several empty beer bottles. The driver, 20 year old Dylan Patel of Pigeon Forge was found to be under the influence of alcohol and is charged with reckless driving, reckless endangerment and evading arrest among other moving violations.
