Greene County Man Charged With Attempted Murder

A man in Greene County is being charged with attempted first degree murder after a shooting Monday night. According to Greene County Sheriff Wesley Holt, deputies were dispatched Monday evening around 7pm to a residence in the 600 block of Bear Hollow Rd. in northern Greene County. Deputies found 42 year old Nathan Poe with multiple gunshot wounds. He was airlifted to the Johnson City Medical Center where he is in critical condition. The suspect, 68 year old Claude “Junior” West, had fled the scene. He was later captured by Hawkins County authorities. He is currently being held in the Greene County Detention Center on a $400,000 bond. He is set to for arraignment in Greene County Sessions Court on Wednesday.
