Kids College Coming To Walters State In Newport
Fifth graders through eighth graders in Cocke County are getting a chance to get a taste of college with “Kids College 2.0: Dive-In Experience” presented by Walters State. During this four day camp, students will learn about zoology and veterinary medicine along with other medical training like basic first aid and CPR. Students will also delve into art and drawing and also technology and engineering. The director of youth programs at Walters State, Dr. Nicole Cardwell-Hampton, says the programs actually resemble college courses, and that gives younger students the chance to experience higher education and interact with professors.
Kids College 2.0 will be held at Walters State’s Morristown Campus from June 3-6 and then at the Newport Campus of Walters State, July 8-11. Classes are from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. daily with lunch provided. The cost is $120. Registration is online and can be completed here:
