NGS Approved For CEP Program
Good news for Newport Grammar School students for the upcoming school year. NGS has been approved for participation in the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program…or CEP. This program will allow students to enjoy not just a free breakfast each school day, but also a free lunch as well. This is for the entire 2024-25 school year. For several years, Newport Grammar School students have been given a free breakfast, but now that will extend to lunch as well.
Director of Schools, Dr. Justin Norton, credits the hard work of Food Service Supervisor Christina Leas with applying for and coordinating with consultants from the Tennessee Department of Education’s Child Nutrition Programs to see Newport Grammar School get approved for the CEP program. Norton says Newport’s approved CEP application can be extended for up to three additional school years if operating costs prove sustainable.
