Accident Sends Driver to Hospital

A man was taken to Newport Medical Center Wednesday evening after a traffic accident on Cosby Hwy. A Mercedes driven by Crystal Amet of Morristown was driving on Cosby Hwy near the Kenjo Market when she noticed a white truck coming up behind her driving erratically. She stated she slowed to allow the vehicle to pass her. The Ford F150, registered to a Kyle Maddix of Talbott was being driven by 35 year old Jeremy Ostrander of Olean, New York. He told police that he was driving too fast and could not stop in time. Oleander was transported to the Newport Medical Center with a possible injury. He was cited for failure to exercise due care, no insurance and driving on a revoked NY state license. Two small children in the Mercedes suffered minor injuries but were not transported to the hospital.
