Alabama Woman Charged With TennCare fraud

A woman in Athens, Alabama is being charged with TennCare fraud and theft of property in Giles County Tennessee…just across the state line. Investigators with the office of Inspector General allege that 35 year old Brittney Hensley failed to inform TennCare that she had moved out of state. That allowed her to receive TennCare benefits unlawfully paying more than $274,435.00 in fees and claims on her behalf. Hensley was arrested last week in Limestone County Alabama last week. She will be prosecuted in Giles County Tennessee. Hensley is charged with TennCare fraud which is a class D felony…but due to the enormous amount of money involved, she is also charged with theft of property over $25,000 which is a class A felony in Tennessee.
