Celebrating Cosby Returns To GSMNP
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park says a favorite annual event is back and it begins later this week. “Celebrating Cosby: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” celebrates the rich cultural and natural history of the Cosby area and is done through storytelling, dance, music and history talks. Visitors get to take a trip back through time via musicians, dancers, storytellers, moonshiners or former residents who once lived in what is now the national park.
The events kick off this Friday night from 7-8pm with the Mountain Edge Band — Enjoy traditional bluegrass music and the stories of Cosby families.
On June 26, from 7-8pm, you will learn about Cherokee culture and stories through dance, music and storytelling from actual members of the Eastern Band of The Cherokee
Then on July 10 from 7-8pm, Distill myth from fact as you learn details of making moonshine in the mountains from Moonshine Legends Mark Ramsey, Sally Clark, Digger Manes and Kelly Williamson.
All of these events that celebrate the history of the Cosby area are held at the Cosby Campground Amphitheater. In the event of rain, all events will be moved to the pavilion. Visitors can find seating in the Amphitheatre or bring their own blankets and chairs.
