Cocke County & Newport Police Depts. Pay Tribute To Fallen Officer

The Cocke County Police department along with the City of Newport Police Department traveled to Loudon County over the weekend where they joined other law enforcement agencies across the area in placing a wreath on the patrol car of Loudon County police Sgt. Chris Jenkins. Jenkins was killed Thursday morning when he was hit by a semi on I-75 in Loudon County. The truck driver, Christopher Savannah was under the influence of marijuana. He has been charged with vehicle homicide by recklessness in Sgt. Jenkins death. Savannah is currently being held in the Roane County jail.
