Commercial Mill Work Victim Of Forgery

On Monday, Lieutenant Bryce Pickens with the Cocke County Sheriff’s Department responded to 365 Industrial Road in reference to a possible forgery. The officer spoke with a representative with Commercial Mill Work who stated the company wrote a check for employee healthcare on March 25^th and it was mailed on the 26^th. The company was contacted on April 11^th by United Healthcare who stated the payment had not been received. After checking with the bank, it was discovered that the check had been changed. The pay to line had been changed to an individual’s name out of Illinois. The check was writen for $33,615.91. The victim in this incident is located in Cocke County, but the crime appears to have been committed in a different jurisdiction.
