Cosby Man Arrested For Firing On Family Members
A Cosby man is in jail after shooting at family members Friday night. Cocke County dispatch received calls Friday night that a man had shot at the caller and others as they were leaving a home in Cosby. When deputies arrived, they were heard two gunshots. That began a standoff with the suspect, 57 year old Rein Kori. Kori made leud gestures at deputies and told them to just shoot him. The SWAT team was called out to the scene at that time. Several deputies were able to make their way around a camper on the property where they observed a .40 caliber handgun sitting on a table next to Kori…well within his reach. A deputy was able to reach the firearm and remove it from Kori’s reach while another deputy was able to get Kori in handcuffs. Sixteen .40 caliber shell casings were found on the scene.
Judy Yurick and Christina Foster told investigators the situation began when they got into a verbal altercation with Kori as they were leaving to go to the store. The two women stated that when they pulled back in, they heard six gunshots fired in their direction and that is when they called 911. Rein Kori is charged with aggravated assault on a family member with a gun, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon involved, aggravated assault and unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon. He is being held on a $35,000 bond.
