Couple Arrested On Drug Charges

New Year’s morning, officers were called to Weigel’s in Newport about a possibly intoxicated driver. Police arrived and observed the driver, 32 year old Anthony Harris stumbling around the parking lot before getting into the driver’s seat. The passenger, 31 year old Kristy Crumbley stumbled out of the passenger side of the car and had to use the vehicle to maintain balance while she attempted to pump gas. The responding officer also noticed a 5 year old child in the backseat. Harris admitted to smoking strong marijuana a couple hours earlier and had warrants for his arrest in both Cocke & Sevier Counties. Crumbly was found to be in possession of 12 grams of meth stuffed in her bra. Police also found marijuana and more meth inside the car. Both Harris and Crumbley were arrested on drug charges…the Department of Children’s Services was called to take care of the 5 year old.
