Deadly Motorcycle Accident On The Foothills Parkway

It turned out to be a deadly weekend for the park as another man was killed Saturday morning on the Foothills Parkway near Wears Valley. Park Rangers responded to a motorcycle accident near mile marker 24 of the Foothills Parkway between Walland and Wears Valley around 11:35 am Saturday. Rangers say that 57 year old David Wayne Birdsong of Fairview, TN, lost control of his motorcycle and veered off the roadway into a drainage ditch. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in that accident. Emergency workers performed CPR on scene before Birdsong was transported to the hospital when he died en route.
