Drowning Victim Identified

Authorities have released the identity of the young boy who drowned on Douglas Lake Thursday night. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s department revealed earlier today that 14 year old Tristan Eilers of White Pine was the individual pulled from the lake shortly after 7:30 last night. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s department also shared more details today. Officers from the White Pine Police Dept. were the first on the scene at the Leadvale Lake Access area and entered the water in an attempt to locate the victim. A White Pine Police officer located Eilers’s body and transferred him to a rescue squad boat. Resuscitation efforts were started and he was transported to the Morristown-Hamblen ER where resuscitation efforts failed and he was pronounced dead. Tristan Eilers was a student at Jefferson County High School and the sheriff’s office says that counselors are on hand at the high school to help fellow students and friends.
