Former East TN Police Officer Indicted For Assault

A former east Tennessee police officer has turned herself in to authorities after being indicted for assault. Back on September 28th…Kingsport police officer Laiken Whitlock was placing a handcuffed woman in a cell when that women spit on Whitlock…who reacted by striking the woman twice. Whitlock was relieved of her duties at the Kingsport police department and an investigation by the TBI commenced. On January 5th, a Sullivan County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Whitlock with two counts of assault. On Tuesday, the former officer turned herself in…she was booked into the Sullivan County Jail with bond set at $3,500.
