Free Fishing Day Set For June 6
The date for free fishing in Tennessee has been announced. On June 6, residents of Tennessee will be able to fish without a license on public waters in the state. The TWRA calls it Bobby Wilson Free Fishing Day, named after the longtime TWRA agent who spent 35 years in the agency’s Fisheries Division.
Besides this one day a year, all adults who want to fish on public waters need to have a one-day fishing license or a basic combination hunting and fishing license. That license is good for a year and starts out at $33. After Free Fishing Day is over on June 6, those who are 15 and under can still fish for free the following week through June 12.
The TWRA notes that Free Fishing Day is for public waters only. Privately owned lakes may still charge for you to fish.
