Girl Run Over By Truck In Cosby
A tragic accident in Cosby on Thursday led to a teenage girl being airlifted to Knoxville. First responders arrived at a home on Holly Court Road around 9:30 Thursday morning. Darrell and Darla Phillips told deputies that they had gotten into their Ford F-150 pickup truck with two girls. Mr. Phillips says he was backing down the driveway when he realized he had gone off the side of the driveway and down an embankment. He says he and his wife got out of the truck to get something for traction so they could get the truck back up to the driveway. The two girls in the backseat then attempted to get out of the truck, which even though in park began to roll backwards. One of the girls got out, but the other, a 13 year old was struck by the back passenger door and was knocked to the ground. The truck then rolled over her legs and abdomen. The truck was on top of the girl when first responders arrived. She was alert and talking with first responders.
The Cosby Volunteer Fire Department arrived and firefighters worked to remove the girl from under the truck. She was then airlifted to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville to be treated for her injuries.
