Grainger Co. Man Kills Own Son

Bad things don’t seem to take a holiday off…even at Christmas. In Grainger County a father shot and killed his own son. Police were called about shots being fired at a home on Indian Creek Rd. in Grainger County Thursday. They found a 41-year-old Joseph Mathews Hammond, dead in a bedroom. Police say that evidence showed the two men got into an argument and 65 year old Rick Hammond ran into his bedroom and closed the door. Joseph Hammond then forcded his way into the bedroom where his father then shot him once in the upper torso. No charges have been filed at this time as the TBI continues to investigate and District Atty Jimmy Dunn reviews the case.
