Hamblen County Firefighters Rescue Trapped Cattle
Members of the East Hamblen County Volunteer Fire Department had a bovine experience on Sunday. The fire department was called to the scene of a traffic accident Sunday morning and found a tractor trailer hauling cattle had overturned in the Russellville area. The driver was not hurt, so the concern then turned to the over 100 cattle in the trailer. About 30 residents joined in with the firefighters and helped rescue the cattle from the trailer. It took crews about five hours to cut into the trailer and get all of the cattle out safely. The Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office and Tennessee Highway Patrol assisted along with several other emergency responders.
