Hiker Found Safe

Two hikers were found safe Monday in the area of the Cherohala Skyway in Monroe County. The two hikers were inexperienced and got lost in the mountains. They called for help Sunday morning but by Sunday night, first responders had lost contact with the two. Authorities tried to find the hikers’ location by pinging their cell phone, but when responders arrived at that location, they found no one there. A helicopter was dispatched Monday morning to join the search. The helicopter found the two missing hikers later Monday morning and the pair were brought ack out of the mountains safely. The two hikers did not suffer any injuries.
