June 10th Is Free Fishing Day
This Saturday in June 10, but it’s also Bobby Wilson Free Fishing Day in Tennessee. The day of free fishing was named in honor of Bobby Wilson who retired last year after being with the TWRA for 40 years. On Saturday, all residents and visitors of the state of Tennessee can fish for free, meaning you do not have to have a license to fish on Tennessee waters. In addition, the following week is Free Fishing Week for those 15 years of age and under. Starting Saturday and continuing to the following Friday, June 16…all minors under 15 can fish for free in Tennessee. Free Fishing Day and Week are used to promote the sport of fishing in the state and to introduce youngsters to fishing. Keep in mind Free Fishing Day and Week apply to Tennessee’s public waters and TWRA operated lakes and state operated parks. Any privately owned waters may still charge a fee for fishing.
