Man Arrested In Newport On Warrant For Statutory Rape
A man was arrested in Newport Sunday morning for outstanding warrants in another county. Police observed a Dodge Dart traveling on west Highway 25/70 traveling at an excessively slow rate of speed violating what’s known as the “Slow Poke Law”. Upon running the registration plate, officer Joshua Shults found the car was registered to 29 year old Marty Kurtz, Jr….who was wanted in Johnson County Tennessee for statutory rape, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia. A traffic stop was initiated and Kurtz was taken into custody to await transfer back to Johnson County.
