Millions Expected To Travel For Christmas

If you will be traveling to grandma’s house for the Christmas holiday…you are going to have a lot of company. According to AAA, 62.6 million Tennesseans will be traveling at least 50 miles away from home between December 23rd and January 2nd. The AAA says that constitutes a projected increase of over 100,000 travelers this year over last year. Most of those traveling will be doing so on the roadways, although there is expected to be an increase in air travel this holiday. The AAA expects an increase of about 14% in those who will fly to their destinations although airfare is up 6% this year over last.

Nationwide, 90% of those traveling for the holiday will be doing so by driving. Nearly 113 million people are expected to travel nationwide over the Christmas holiday.
