Mother Assaults Daughter with Whip

A Newport woman was arrested Wednesday after assaulting her daughter…with a whip. According to the police report, Ashley Cody stated that she and her mother, 47 year old Amy Stanley got into an argument over Cody’s children. Cody days during the argument, her mother grabbed her arm and struck her on the arms and head with a horse whip. Police confirmed there were marks on the woman’s arms where her mother had struck her. Stanley was arrested at that time and charged with aggravated assault
