Newport Medical Center Donates To Empower Cocke County

Thursday was National Doctor’s Day in the US. However, locally it was doctor’s that were doing the saluting. Wednesday in commemoration of Doctor’s Day, three doctors donated a check to Empower Cocke County. Tennova Healthcare and the Newport Medical Center presented a check in the amount of $1500 to the local non-profit organization. Newport Medical Center’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Larry Mathers, Internal Medicine Dr. Cyndi Overholt, and General Surgeon for Newport Medical Center, Dr. Jeff Matthews were on hand to present the check to Annette Estrada, the Executive Director of Empower Cocke County. Empower Cocke County is local 501 c(3) nonprofit organization with a focus on positive life change with help to cease destructive behavior. This includes an addiction outpatient program, a program to give rides to those in need over 60 years of age, plus workforce development programs and much more.
