Old State Route 32 To Close For Bridge Replacement Over Cosby Creek

People who travel Cosby Highway between Newport and Cosby we have a traffic alert for you. When traveling southbound towards Cosby, if you are one of those motorists who like to cut off onto the Old Cosby Highway just past the Woodshed Restaurant…we have some bad new for you. That road will be closing effective next Monday, September 13th. Crews will be dismantling and replacing the bridge on the old road over Cosby Creek. The Cocke County Highway Department says there is no timeframe available right now as to how long that road will be closed. Just be aware that you will not be able to cut off onto the old highway starting next Monday.
