One Car Accident Sunday Night

A woman escaped injury in a one car accident Sunday night in Newport. Lizabeth Lassiter told police that she was traveling westbound on Hwy 25/70 approaching the intersection with US 25E. She stated that she received a phone call she thought to be a medical emergency and while reaching for her phone, drifted to the right and into the right turn lane for Hwy 25E. she tried to correct but went over the curb, struck a utility pole and came to rest in the left lane of Hwy 25E. Lassiter declined medical treatment and her car was towed from the scene. Newport Utilities had to respond to fix the power pole.
