Police Looking For iPhone Thief
Police in Newport are looking for a black man driving a 2010 silver Toyota Avalon. The man is the suspect in a theft of two iPhones from Wal-Mart on Cosby Hwy on Saturday. According to loss prevention at Wal-Mart, the suspect was pretending to purchase the phones from a sales representative. While the phones were in her hands, the suspect ripped them from her hands and ran out of the store fleeing in the silver Toyota Avalon. The loss prevention officer was then notified that a similar theft had occurred at the Sevierville Wal-Mart about an hour before the episode in Newport. The same suspect is also believed to be responsible for a similar theft that happened last week at the Wal-Mart location in Jefferson City. The Sevierville store was able to get a tag number off the vehicle which came back registered to 43 year old Willard Crews…who does resemble the suspect in those thefts.
