State Representative Jeremy Faison Visiting Cosby High School
State Representative Jeremy Faison will be in his own backyard tomorrow morning…so to speak. This areas state rep, who is from Cosby, will be visiting the Cosby High School tomorrow morning at 9am. Faison will be at the school to visit a program he helped promote in the state legislature. That is the Communities In Schools program…which was funded through a pilot program by Governor Bill Lee and the General Assembly. The Communities In Schools program places a dedicated site coordinator at each school it works with, and that person then facilitates a variety of support services for students, from schoolwide attendance campaigns to small-group workshops to home visits with case-managed students. Those visits help families to find stabile housing, make ends meet, find mental health services and get them to doctor appointments. The program was originally started to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic and was funded for three years. However it has recently been funded for an additional two more years. The Communities In Schools program works in both the Cosby & Cocke County High Schools. Rep. Faison will visit the program at the Cosby High School Thursday morning (9/29).
