Sullivan County Man Held On Million Dollar Bond

A man in Sullivan County is being held on a million dollar bond after being arrested for killing his own mother. Over the weekend police were called to a home in Blountville after a witness told police that a man tried to strangle her when she went to check on a friend. When police entered the home of that friend they found 57 year old Jill Sly with injuries to her face and head. She was rushed to the hospital where she later died. Also at the home was the man who had tried to strangle the witness…his name, Benjamin Sly…the 26 year old son of the victim. Benjamin Sly was on the scene and charged with first degree murder after he was found to have scratches and blood on him. Sly according to court documents admitted to investigators that he killed his mother. Sly is also charged with aggravated assault. His next appearance in court will be February 15th.
