Suspicious Vehicle Leads To Man’s Arrest

A man was arrested over the weekend after being found to be in possession of a stolen vehicle. Police were called to an address on Myers Circle Sunday morning about a suspicious vehicle and possible drug activity. Police found 38-year-old Brandon Lovell leaning into the 2008 Chevrolet HHR. Inside the truck was 39-year-old John Barrett who was wanted in Cocke County. The truck was also found to be stolen out of Sevier County. Barrett claimed he was purchasing the vehicle from another party. Also, there were nearly 2 grams of methamphetamine found in the truck’s center console which Barrett admitted was his. Barrett was charged with theft over $1,000 for the stolen truck, plus possession of schedule II. A woman that was in the truck, 32-year-old Heather Atwell, was charged with public intoxication. Brandon Lovell was not charged in that incident.
