TDOT Hopes To Have Jones Cove Road Partially Open In November

TDOT has given an update on Jones Cove Road. TDOT said yesterday they hope to have the bridge at Wilhite Road repaired enough to open one lane of traffic by mid November. The goal is then to have the bridge completely reopened by the end of the year. Construction would then be completely finished by sometime in 2023. Heavy rains on July 25th washed that bridge out, making it difficult for residents of that area to get to Sevierville or Newport, depending on what side of the bridge they live on. The bridge being out has also caused headaches for Sevier County schools as buses are having to take detours to get children to school on time.
