Tennessee Ties Record For Lowest Unemployment Rate
Unemployment numbers for June were released last week and there was some real good news for Tennessee. The state matched its record for the lowest unemployment rate ever in the state’s history. June’s unemployment rate dropped to 3.2%, tying the record set exactly one year ago. Between June 2022 and June 2023, employers created 84,600 new jobs across the state. The biggest gains came in the Education and Health Services sector. The Leisure and Hospitality sector saw the next largest year-to-year gains, followed by the Government sector. The national unemployment rate is 3.6%. Individual county unemployment numbers for June will be released later this week. In May, Cocke County’s unemployment rate was not among the top 10 highest in the state…Cocke County’s unemployment rate ranked 19th in the state at 4%.
